What if your banking app had a financial buddy...one that could analyse your spending in real time, give you an honest update on where you stand, and help you plan smarter for what's ahead?
Here's where this idea came from.
Earlier this week, I was going through my monthly finances and I realised I had spent significantly more than I had budgeted for (definitely not a great feeling). Like most people, I do not track every transaction in the moment. By the time I noticed, the damage was already done.
For some reason, I found myself frustrated with my banking app, but the feeling pointed to something real. I wanted something that felt less like a statement and more like a conversation. A quick nudge just like a friendly check-in. Something that could tell "hey, can you please let me know if i can purchase an item and the impact of that purchase on my finances" or even generate recommendation that provide possible routes to have a better financial status before I made the next decision, not after.
So I started exploring.
I consulted Claude, explained the problem, and used the generated prompt in Stitch to produce initial flows. What came out of that process was impressive. the design approach it unlocked was not just specific to one app. It was flexible enough to be integrated into almost any banking platform.
This is what I find exciting about designing at the intersection of AI and financial services, decision making just gets faster by day with AI.
